Services they regulate uh a commodity Back stable coin backed by gold and they Have uh the entity offering it has Physical custody of Gold um that is audited in conformance With the um process uh laid out by this Bill And so I hope that we can get there I'm Thankful uh to be working with Mr heims For a possible amendment that moving Forward that would account for commodity Back stable coins uh as part of our Conversation Mr heims has agreed to Consider a regulatory regime for certain Tokens that are backed by gold to make Sure that one token equates to the Promised amount of gold from the issuer These would not be denominated in Dollars but would re be redeemable for a Fixed amount of the underlying commodity And we're working on that language Because that's a little different than The way that uh New York DFS has it um These uh we would also allow for these Coins to be brought under the state Framework of the bill which is the Status quo uh and state regul Regulators Would oversee the licensing and Examination of these coins just as they Do today uh create a term for these Coins to adequately capture their Characteristics to distinguish them from One1 to one dollar denominated coins uh We would work together going to rules to
See if there Are uh space uh for these uh tokens in The bill um and these would be Transferable in the same manner as the p As the payment stable coins that we are Discussing today I spoke with Mr heimes About this earlier and I understand in Respect his position that gold Uh or his position is that gold should Not be part of the basket of reserves That back um what this bill considers One: one payment stable coins so the Distinction would be captured by a Phrase something along the lines of a Commodity back stable coin but the Functionality would be the same Hopefully that clarify some Misunderstandings and that sounds a lot To me like you're coming up with ways to Make sure listen let's understand this Stable coin is a great way to move money Instantly around the world it's the Money for the internet got it simple Understand it commodity back stable Coins represents whatever that is back By right whether it's gold or oil Whatever so if it's not gold then Imagine if it's a commodity like oil Right or imagine if that stable coin Tokenization is a commodity like a soft Commodity like that token represents Corn or soybean or Wheat and if we're able to get that Distinction in there it sounds like to
