Cell across uh Robin Hood both in Retirement and self-directed and what Those people did was roll rolled into One of the other ones and I believe that Was just uh a direct um result of just Trying to be more cost efficient because Uh from a from an overall cost Standpoint um the the other 10 are are Probably much more cost efficient and They have a better um tracking record Now we have been seeing a lot out of Larry Fink and black rock and I wanted To set the stage to remind everybody Because many of you were not there but Back in I believe it was 2019 um Robbie mitnik who was with Ripple left to go to Black Rock to head Up their digital Asset Division and for Those of you that also don't know Robby Mitnik was the one who with Susan Ay um created the xrp Valuation um a model for the xrp Valuation I don't think it was while he Was at Ripple he was at Stanford I Believe at the time but anyway then he Went on to Ripple then he goes to Black Rock so I wanted to show you what he had To say back in 2019 while he was at Black Rock leading into the Larry Fink Stuff so we talked about how there was a Lot of enthusiasm about crypto in 2008 With the initiation of the first birth Of Bitcoin if you will um a lot of Excitement in 2015 2016 and then now
People kind of roll their eyes it feels Like blockchain is a tired buzzword so Where do you think we are in the hype Cycle and where do you think it's going Even though blockchain and uh crypto are You know fundamentally distinct Concepts That may ultimately have different Endings um blockchain hype Cycles very Much tracked bitcoin's cycles and we've Had three of those in its 10year history Um you know the first being from Inception basically through 2011 uh and The second peaking in late 2013 Troughing in 2015 and then of course the 3D peaked in sort of December of 17 and So for the last year and a half that's Where this trough of disillusionment has Really set in uh where people have Started to to Tire of the buzz and and Question whether this was going to be Anything but just as is is typical in Sort of that classic Gartner hype cycle As that is happening on the ground Fundamentals are actually improving so Speed privacy security Scalability uh and real development is Happening now that doesn't mean um we're Going to see widespread adoption there's A lot that still needs to happen but We're certainly starting to see Meaningful progress ah yes we are then Um this was from the other day I think I Played this but it's worth hearing Again uh Larry Fink from Black Rock said
